What is the 30 hours funding (free childcare)?
Currently the government provide 15 hours per week free day care for some 2 year olds and all three and four year olds. From Sept 2017 this will be increased to 30 hours per week for three and four year olds for parents who are eligible. The current 15 hours per week funded childcare will continue for eligible 2 year olds and ineligible three year olds.
Am I eligible?
You need to meet the following criteria:
- Both parents earn at least the equivalent of 16 hrs per week at the national living wage or the national minimum wage for those under 25.
- Earn less than 100,000 pounds per year. (there are exceptions to this for parents who are on maternity/paternity leave or where one parent is unable to work due to disability.
I am a single parent, will I be eligible?
You should be, providing you meet the other criteria.
Will i get the free sessions every week of the year?
No. If you are eligible you will get the free sessions during term time only. Although you can opt to ‘stretch’ your free sessions which means taking fewer hours during term time and stretching them over the holiday periods. If you want more information on this option speak to our Manager Lauren.
Will Cornfields be offering thirty hours funding?
Yes we will. Although there is concern that the Government contribution will, in the medium term, be less than the actual charge (in this scenario Nurseries will end up subsidising funded places). So we cannot guarantee we can offer these hours indefinitely. But we will give you plenty of notice if the situation changes. For the time being we are happy to offer 30 funded hours to eligible parents on a first come first served basis.
What should I do next?
You need to register online to confirm your eligibility. If you are eligible you will be issued with a code.

Once you have the code code contact us , when we have your code and your National Insurance Numbers we will then reserve your sessions for September (we can’t reserve any sessions without the code). You will have to reconfirm your eligibility in three months time but that should be relatively easy online.
As soon as you have the code contact our Manager Lauren on 01484 846372, give her the code and reserve the sessions you require for Sept 2017. Remember, its first come first served. If you delay you may find all the available sessions are taken.
